Around the county

Here’s an amazing photo I had the opportunity to take of an American Bald Eagle… sometimes you just come across that ” Kodak Moment.” It was perched high up in a tree with its sharp, piercing Eagle Eyes scanning the neighborhood for supper. The shot was taken nearby Seneca on a secluded road not far from the Mississippi River.

Bald Eagles, according to the American Bald Eagle information website, had been listed on the Endangered Species list since 1995 and they were removed in June of 2007.  Another interesting fact is that they are not necessarily bald but that bald at one time meant “white” not hairless; hence the name Bald Eagle.  These birds of prey are now more frequently spotted all around Vernon & Crawford Counties. Where not too long ago… one was more likely to only see them by the Mississippi River.
