Chaseburg

Chaseburg, a small peaceful rural village in Vernon County has a population of approximately 306; it’s located within an easy commuter’s drive to La Crosse.  The homes in town homes are modestly priced; with the location and prices being ideal for home buyers seeking affordability plus a country lifestyle. A tight-knit Amish community resides just on the edge of Chaseburg and the surrounding areas.  Amish families in horse drawn buggies, coming and going is a daily site adding to Chaseburg’s rustic appeal.  A prime feature of this village is the upstairs-downstairs land elevation of this town.  The change in elevation in each part of town is referred to locally as Upper Chaseburg and Lower Chaseburg.  Since the last 2 big floods of 2007 and 2008, the Lower Charseburg area is almost totally now gone. All of the homes and business building that lined that portion of Main Street were destroy by the high waters of Coon Creek and had to be razed.

Coon Creek has been a tempestuous creek over the years prone to floods, however it is also a very popular Trout Stream meanders through the valley floor between the Chaseburg area and Coon Valley on its way to the Mississippi River.  During fly fishing season you will see many angles enjoying them selves along the banks and within this quality trout  stream.
